Pale garnet, it opens with struck match character and earthy tones of underbrush, mushrooms and tobacco, plus a core of spicy dark fruit. The medium bodied palate is chalky and fresh with fully mature flavors and a long, earthy finish. It hasn't matured as gracefully as the 2012 Chardonnay from the Sanford &
