Legends of the Highway Format:DVD Clark GableFollow the true story of the Florida Highwaymen, 26 self taught African American artists who forged their own patch to success in the segregated 1950s and '60s. Their stories are guided by the mentorship of renowned landscape painters A. E. Backus, Alfred Hair, and Harold Newton. Their troupe captured Florida's breathtaking landscapes and sold their paintings along state highways, circumventing the traditional art world that excluded them.
